The Scottish International Trumpet Competition

A key event at the Festival will be the first ever Scottish International Trumpet Competition, which will be open to all players, to be held on 20th June 2010. There will be two categories, classical and jazz, with prizes totalling £5000.

First Prize in the classical competition will be a Kanstul 1537-P trumpet, worth £2000, and there is a Geneva Platypus Trumpet, worth £1900, for the winner of the jazz category. Both competitions will also have cash prizes of £500 and £250 for second and third place respectively.

The preliminary rounds will be held on the Thursday before the festival weekend. Players who are unsuccessful in the preliminary rounds will be invited to participate in a large trumpet ensemble that will perform in the final Gala Concert on the Sunday night.

The final 3 rounds will be held during the weekend, with the Final being held on the Sunday afternoon. The top 3 in each category will be awarded their prizes during the Sunday night Gala Concert, with overall winners performing in the concert.
